As a reminder, Your Home Assignment was as follows:


Develop a Questionnaire with span of 5-10 questions on a topic of your choice. To illustrate the questionnaire add a cover letter that describe the following points:
- Research Question
- Objective of the Questionnaire
- Questionnaire Sections
- Target Audience
- Questions Format (closed-open)

Ground rules

After a brain storming session during the orientation day, participants and the training faculty reached an agreement on the ground rule that the want to follow during the course. They all ensured that they will follow this rules as it represents their own idea. The whole process was a demonstration of democracy and autonomy rights that the trainers and trainees enjoy :)

The rules were:

• keep always on time: Trainers will start and end at the predetermined schedule, and trainees will always show up in time.
• No distraction. No side talks. Mobiles are SILENT as a rock.
• No ALSH as much as possible, but yet, have fun as much as possible.
• Raise Your hands in order to speak.
• Active Participation is a must

MSRG rules of eligibility to apply for the Grants

In order to guarantee a fair selection process for the winners of the 3 grants offered at the end of the course, we announced the following rules that will be applied on any applicant of the grants. to be eligible to apply for the grant you must:

1- show commitment to attending the course.
The course consists of 14 sessions, each one is considered to be 2 training hours with a total of 28 training hours. you must at least attended 60% of the training hours to be eligible to apply for the grants, this equals 8 hours. We consider being late more than 10 minutes at the start of the session as absence of 1 hour, and skipping a whole sessions as absence of 2 hours. Make sure to sign your name in the presence list when you come at the beginning of the sessions.

The whole course is planned ahead and we are not intending to change any dates or times in order to give you a chance to schedule your time easily. If any changes are to take place, we will announce it early enough, so no short notices. You can see the schedule of the course by clicking here.

2- Participating in home assignments
Home assignments are a vital part of our course, as it represents a part of the practical sessions we intended to deliver. So, commitment to participation in the home assignment is a true indicator that you explored the full experience of our course.

In order to be eligible to apply to the grants you should submit at least 75% of the home assignments. correct answers are not regarded, just submission is enough to show your commitment. We are planning to have a home assignment for each session. It will be announced at the end of the sessions, as well as on our webpage about the Workshop MSRG that contains the workshop chronicles. Click here to go to this page.

Submission will be decided for each individual assignment weather to be online or to be handled at the next session.

3- Post-test exam score.
At the beginning of the course, we gave you the pre test that aimed to measure your knowledge level about various topics dealt with during the course. These scores serves as a base-line that enables us to measure the change that the course introduced by comparing it with your scores of the post test which would contains the exact same questions of the pre test.

Another use of the post test is to estimate the level of knowledge you acquired, and weather it is sufficient to be able to carry a research. in order to be eligible to apply to the grants you should at least score 75% at the post test.

To sum up:

• Attend at least 20 training hours
• Submit at least 75% of the home assignments
• Score at least 75% at the post test at the end of each course.

Session B2 - Research 101

Home Assignment

(1) You want to study the impact of band ligation on the control of esophageal varices in comparison to injection sclerotherapy.

-Put a broad and narrow research question for this idea.

-Break the question into concepts using the PICO tool.

-Put possible key words for each concept.

(2) In the paper you took a copy of during the lecture:Extract the following items from the search methodology mentioned in the systematic review: Databases, search engines and interfaces, other search resources, keywords, controlled vocabulary, Boolean operators and limitations.

Session B1 - Research 101

First home assignment

Identify a research problem and analyze it using fishbone diagram.

The assignment should be handled at the beginning of the next session ( Sunday 4th May 2014) - handling the assignment counts for 1 mark regardless the outcome weather correct or not.

Orientation Day of MSRG

Orientation Day with the two groups of the MSRG in the office of the Care and friends of GIT Patients Society.

The event included:

Register now for the MSRG

Registration for the MSRG paid program is now open for the 29 candidates who declared that they are applying for the paid classes, and for any one of the scholarship candidates who did not make it to the winner 15 of the free scholarship. members of the paid group will attend the training and will have a chance to compete for one of the 3 research grants offered after the training course.

Register in the office of Care and Friends of GIT Patients Society between 10 AM and 2 PM from Saturday 26/4/2014 to Wednesday  30/4/2014. Course fees: 600 L.E.

 Priority will be given to the first 25 candidates to register.
